Purpose of the Role
The Youth Support Worker will provide practical and emotional support to young people aged 16–24 living in supported accommodation. The role focuses on helping young people develop basic independent living skills, maintain wellbeing, and feel safe and supported in their environment.
This is an entry-level support role suitable for the early stage of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Support for Young People
Provide day-to-day practical and emotional support to young people.
Create a safe, supportive, and respectful environment.
Build positive and professional relationships with young people.
Encourage independence through basic life skills support such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and maintaining living spaces.
Offer guidance and reassurance during times of difficulty or change.
Care & Wellbeing
Follow individual support plans and contribute to updates where required.
Support young people to attend appointments, education, or activities where appropriate.
Promote positive behaviour and challenge inappropriate behaviour in a calm and respectful manner.
Maintain appropriate boundaries while acting as a positive role model.
Record Keeping & Communication
Maintain accurate and timely records in line with organisational requirements.
Share relevant information appropriately in line with safeguarding and confidentiality policies.
Communicate effectively with colleagues and managers regarding young people's needs.
Team Working
Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent support.
Attend team meetings and supervision when required.
Follow all Bright Bridge Connect policies and procedures.
Safeguarding
Carry out duties with an awareness of safeguarding responsibilities.
Act in a way that protects the safety and wellbeing of young people.
Report any safeguarding concerns in line with organisational procedures.
This role requires an Enhanced DBS check.
